How may I be of service?

I am a service provider and this quarantine has made it impossible for me to do that. My entire identity is wrapped up in how I serve my community and now it is no more, at least for the time being. I know that there will come a day again in the near future where I will be able to return to the service of hair, but in the meantime I have spent a lot of time asking myself how I might be of service until then. I am offering hair consultations and tutorials, a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen and compassion and comfort, but that somehow does not feel like enough. I am spending more time caring for my household and yet I do not feel the same beautiful energy I receive from my face to face interactions with clients where I am able to help with so much more than hair. I started dissecting the reason I love what I do and how I do so much and surprisingly it was the least about doing hair and the most about being a helper in any way I can to the people who trust me enough to come and sit in my chair. It is never about my ego as a stylist and what I know and what I think, it is never just a haircut. It is about meeting each of you exactly where you are at and simply asking the question, “How may I be of service?” And that got me thinking...how else I may be of service to you in an intentional way? As many of you know, I have been on my own healthy fitness lifestyle journey for some time now. I have spent years learning what works for me and through trial and error I have come a long way from where I once was. My nemesis has always been food and with this quarantine I am determined to finally get ahold of my eating. I hired a nutritional coach and set up a FaceTime meeting. After one session I realized that she was doing exactly the same thing I do all the time, the only difference is that her aim is to help me with food and exercise. Then it hit me, I want to do that too! I want to help people help themselves and self advocate for their best lives. I want to meet people exactly where they are, hear their struggles, their dreams and help them along their individual journeys to happier, more fulfilled lives. So I signed up for a nutrition and lifestyle coaching program. Soon I will be a certified personal coach and get to add this as one of the ways I can be there for my community. This has been a tough time for many and it is certainly hard to make lemonade from lemons if you can’t find them or if they have gone bad….but hey, water on it’s own is good too. I look forward to seeing all of you again and just catching up and hearing your quarantine stories. I know things will never be the same again, but I’ll still be here for you anyway I can.

Much love,

Kristina
